About this centre

The Ballito Kumon Study Centre is situated at the Crest Business Park near popular upmarket shopping centres. There is ample parking and inside there is a waiting area for parents. The Centre is fully air-conditioned which is comfortable and conducive to learning. It is a warm, safe environment with a reading area full of interesting books from the Kumon Recommended Reading List.

The Centre was established in 2012 and is now being steered by full time Instructor Kumarie Moopanar and her assistants. They have students as young as four years old to students that are fifteen years old. Your child will develop invaluable study skills and grow in confidence as they progress in the programme. The Instructor and her assistants are passionate about working with, as well as guiding and supporting the students in the Centre, and are committed to helping each and every child to become an independent, advanced learner, with a positive attitude to study.

Kumon’s long-term focus provides children with the self-confidence to take their learning into their own hands, increasing their motivation to succeed.

The Ballito Kumon Study Centre is offering in-Centre/physical class on Tuesday and Saturday, and online class on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

About the Instructor

My name is Kumarie Moopanar. I was introduced to Kumon by a friend and had the opportunity to work as an assistant at the Ballito Kumon Centre for more than three years. During this time, I grew to love the programme and saw how successful it is, how it develops the children’s skills and how confident they then become. I felt so blessed, excited and grateful when I had an amazing opportunity in early 2016 to take the Kumon Centre in Ballito over, and to embark on this new journey.

As an extensively trained, professional Instructor I serve as a mentor - a person who guides your children as they work through their worksheets. I previously worked in the financial sector in a well- known bank for 17 years, but my passion to work with children, to be involved in the education environment and to run my own business was often longed for. When I started working at Kumon I felt that this was the opportunity to achieve my dreams.

It has been a wonderful experience to mould so many young minds using the principles of the Kumon Method. My assistants and I strive to provide a friendly, caring and encouraging environment in which students can concentrate and nurture their study skills. With my direction, positive support and earnest desire to help children succeed, I know Kumon will help your child work to their full potential.

I have a very good understanding as to how to use the programme as an effective tool to empower students, interacting with them in such a way that they become independent, confident self-learners by guiding them and developing their ability in maths and English.

I truly believe that Kumon is the best investment a parent can make in their child’s education. It does not only focus on number conceptual development, mastering basic arithmetic or reading concepts or building a solid foundation, the Kumon Method also develops crucial life skills that can be used in all aspects of the child’s life. Examples of these life skills include: improving concentration, time management, task completion and showing the benefit of perseverance.

Many of the students that attend my Centre have passed their exams with distinctions. Together with Kumon and their committed parents, these students are learning and applying the discipline and work ethic that they are exposed to, which helps them with their studies. I find it extremely rewarding working with children and witnessing the improvement in their skills as they overcome many challenges to become independent self-learners.

I believe in my own continuous development and the benefits gained from exposure to different and new learning processes offered by Kumon, the children that are enrolled at my Kumon Centre themselves as well as my spiritual organisation.

Kindly email me to make an appointment for an enrolment interview.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than extra lessons and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
