About this centre

KUMON CONNECT available
My centre is situated in the heart of Dainfern at the Dainfern clubhouse. It is easily accessible to many excellent schools in the area like Dainfern College, Heronbridge, the American School and Summit College. At the Dainfern Centre, we accommodate students from pre-primary, primary and secondary school.

Dainfern students benefit from a low comfortable starting point, develop a diligent work ethic and achieve visible results.  I have two very competent assistants who are always able to support students. Mathematics is essential in many fields of study and career paths, therefore it is imperative that students excel at Mathematics. A person’s entire life can change for the better, when they become aware of their own potential – sometimes much to their own amazement!

A student of mine recently said to me, “I am the only who got full marks in my Maths test”. In another case, a student was failing Mathematics. He could not understand basic Mathematics. After just 5 months at Kumon, he achieved 69% in a Maths test. His confidence and skills grew immensely which helped him achieve.

Enrol your child as soon as possible and wait to be amazed by your child’s development at the Dainfern Kumon Centre!

About the Instructor

I started my Kumon journey as a Kumon parent. My son, Michael, had learning difficulties but after studying with the Kumon method, he was able to obtain 100% in Mathematics. We were amazed at the progress that he made.

I became an Instructor in 2000. Over the years, I have witnessing the transformation of a depressed child with desperate parents and a disappointed teacher to thriving, satisfied people. I have also regularly seen an enormous improvement in the class grades of my Kumon students. Kumon assists students to improve academically and to enjoy their results.

The motivating force for me as a Kumon Instructor is hearing about the long term successes of my past students and developing this excellence in other students. One of my students is a doctor, presently specialising in Gynaecology. Another student is a Physiotherapist. My own son, Michael, has a B. Com honours in Logistics. My second son, Haydn, has a B. Com in Financial Management.

I, as a Kumon Instructor, continuously develop my own knowledge of the programme and method, by completing the worksheets and by being involved in study groups and workshops.  This enables me to provide the best service to all parents and students.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than extra lessons and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
