The Kumon Panorama Study Centre opened in August 2000.

The study centre has a relaxed and friendly environment where students of all ages and abilities can learn and develop a positive attitude towards study.

Students may enrol from the age of 4 years. Many students continue with their Kumon studies for several years, as the programmes support learning up to matric level (English) and beyond (Maths). A former Panorama student attained 2nd place in the matric results for the whole of South Africa. He enrolled at the Panorama Study Centre in Grade R and completed both the Maths and English programmes by Grade 10.

The centre has an area specifically for younger students, which has a low student/staff ratio. This enables staff to focus on their needs and get them off to a flying start at Kumon and at school.

After completing a Kumon assessment, your child will begin on the unique Maths and/or English programme/s at an individually set starting point, providing a solid foundation for effective learning.

As a Kumon student, your child will develop invaluable study skills towards become an independent learner. In addition to studying an appropriate amount of work at home on a daily basis, your child will attend the Kumon centre twice a week. Kumon’s long-term focus provides children with the self-assurance to take their learning into their own hands, increasing their motivation to succeed.

The centre has enthusiastic and supportive assistants; of whom several have worked at the centre for many years.

About the Instructor

My name is Antoinette Vogel and I am deeply rooted in family values and a love for people. I see children as precious gifts that must be cared for deeply and positively influenced daily. I was born and raised in the Panorama area and after earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy at the North West University and practicing as a Pharmacist for 8 years, I decided to make a career change to pursue something that I am truly passionate about, namely children and supporting and guiding them to reach their full potential.

What sets Kumon apart for me is its holistic approach to skill development. It goes beyond academics, instilling independence, self-discipline, and self-confidence in every student. As an Instructor, I am passionate about nurturing well-rounded individuals who have the courage to dream big and pursue their goals.

I believe in the inherent potential of every student with any ability and see it as my responsibility to cultivate and nurture that potential through personalised instruction. Kumon provides the perfect platform for me to meet each student's individual needs and empower them to excel.
I am thrilled to be part of the Kumon family, where I can make a significantly positive difference in the lives of young learners in our community with a programme I truly believe in.

I want each student in my Centre to believe that they are important, they matter and that they can do anything they set their minds to. It’s important for me to cultivate a positive learning environment in which students like to spend time and can become excited about Maths and English study.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than extra lessons and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
