About this centre

In-centre Classes & Messaging support
The Burgersfort study centre was established in 2020.

The location of the centre is accessible to learners from all the schools in Burgersfort and is close to many of the residential areas.  The centre is located next to Oasis Water and is a few meters away from Spar Aloe. Parents can run quick errands while their child is busy at Kumon, or simply just unwind in our parent's waiting area. The centre is a child friendly, safe environment with sufficient parking.

The centre accommodates children from the age of three years upwards, and accommodates all types of learners including top achievers, second language English speakers and learners who are struggling.  Students are assigned time slots to ensure effective learning and instruction.  The layout of the centre is conducive to learning and ensures that learners are not easily distracted.

The centre offers a friendly, welcoming environment where students are encouraged to progress at a pace uniquely suited to their ability. The centre has a separate reading area as well as an early learner's area.

The aim of the Burgersfort Study Centre is to create a nation of critical thinkers as well as confident self-learners who will thrive in their future endeavours. Making even a small change here in Burgersfort can hopefully contribute to the centre’s vision for the future.  The Burgersfort Study Centre is helping children in the community to get a good education and to fulfil their dreams of becoming amazing, successful people someday.
My name is Zainub and I am the Instructor for the Burgersfort Kumon Study Centre. I am a qualified Reflexologist and Aromatherapist, and also a mum to three beautiful children.

The thirst for knowledge in Burgersfort motivated me to become a Kumon Instructor. I have always been passionate about children, and aim to develop confident self-learners with high self-esteem.  Through the Kumon Method I am able to help the children in Burgersfort to get a good education and to fulfil their dreams of becoming amazing, successful people in future.

Mathematics was always my favourite subject at school, and I wish to create this love for mathematics in the children of Burgersfort through the Kumon Method.  I have seen amazing results with the Kumon Method and wish to enrich our children's lives through it.

Most Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than extra lessons and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
