The Constantia Kloof Centre opened its doors in 2007. Our Kumon House is dedicated to Kumon and is a safe and friendly environment where children can study and grow. It is structured so that children on different levels can study in separate rooms. We currently have students enrolled from ages 4 years old to Grade 11.

This centre prides itself on constantly adopting Kumon global best practices. Instructor Bianca Evans participates in international and local study groups aimed at staying abreast of the latest Kumon methodologies and developments, thereby ensuring the richest learning experience for our students.

At the Constantia Kloof Centre we have a dedicated team of seven professionals.  We instruct with an image of the future child in mind. We remind ourselves daily that our students have unlimited potential and it is our responsibility to discover and develop this potential. Our work is focussed on the students but at the same time we strive to communicate with our parents regularly and professionally.

The centre is within walking distance of the local primary school and a number of after care centres in the neighbourhood. Ample parking is available for parents at the centre or at the school next door. Parents are also welcome to wait for their children in our waiting area at the centre.

About the Instructor

My name is Bianca Evans and as a parent of two beautiful children, I had to ask myself many times, how do I best prepare my children for the future? The future demands children who can solve problems creatively, manage time effectively and sort through huge amounts of information efficiently. The future requires children who are confident, can self-learn, can adapt to different environments and have the discipline to persevere. I enrolled my own two children on the Kumon programme and observed first-hand how these skills were developed together with their Maths and English ability. The Kumon method nurtures these life skills through the carefully structured Maths and English worksheets. Seeing my own chldren’s growth and development thorugh Kumon motivated me to become a Kumon Instructor in 2002 and I have now dedicated more than a decade of my life to this task.

Before Kumon I spent many years in adult training and development. I have, however, always had a love of working with children and hence, when the opportunity to join Kumon arose, I jumped at it. Drawing on years of experience in business psychology as well as brain profiling and study skills with adults and children, I have come to realise that just being good at Maths and English is not enough to make it in the world out there. Today’s children need many skills to prepare them well for what lies ahead. Kumon helps with this preparation.

I am blessed to have a wonderfully dedicated team of educators who instruct with purpose, love and care. I find the Kumon method very stimulating and fulfilling. Watching how Kumon makes a difference in students’ lives is very rewarding indeed.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than extra lessons and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
