About this centre

The Morningside Study Centre was established in 2002. Over the years, Morningside Kumon has nurtured over thousands of students into self-learners. They believe that every child comes to them with 'smartness’ and that it is their job to make them ‘SMARTER’.

Keshni, together with her staff members, believe in the holistic development of students. The Morningside Study Centre has a warm welcoming feel and every student and parent feels a sense of belonging.

Keshni has a particular interest in the development of the child as a whole. She does not focus only on academics. Keshni looks at the students current abilities and through motivation, praise and nurturing self-confidence, students are developed in both academics and life skills.

The Kumon Programme caters for all ages and abilities, and each student receives tailored, hands-on instruction that allows them to reach their optimum potential without the constraints of society's expectations.

Keshni values parent communication and through regular calls and meetings, parents are kept informed of their child/children's progress.

The Morningside Study Centre is located 1km from Windermere centre. The venue is spacious and well lit, with ablution facilities within the study centre, as well as electric fencing and onsite security.

About the Instructor

My name is Keshni Naidoo, the Instructor of the Morningside Kumon Centre. My studies in Social Work and Child/Youth Development has led me into different fields over the past 16 years. I joined the Kumon family in 2013 and was employed as an Area Manager for Kumon Education SA (PTY) LTD for 6 years. I trained and developed both new and existing Kumon Instructors to ensure every child has the best Kumon experience, developing their ability to the maximum.

My role as an Area Manager and working with adults was very rewarding and fulfilling, but my love for children and the enjoyment of working with children has led to me leaving my role as an Area Manager and pursuing my dream of nurturing sound capable students. I have seen children of all ages and abilities exceed beyond their school grade level and I am always constantly amazed at what the Kumon Method can do for a child.

I would love to share more with you of what Kumon Education is all about, and how, together, we can make your child smarter. I look forward to welcoming you to our Morningside Study Centre soon.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than extra lessons and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
