About this centre

In-centre & Online Classes
Kumon Eldoraigne is situated in the Saxby Shopping Centre, on the corner of Saxby and Cradock Streets in Eldoraigne.  The shopping centre is a small and quiet centre and has ample parking available.  It is close to several schools in the area.

Our vision at the Eldoraigne Study Centre is to discover the potential of each student and to develop it to the maximum by ensuring they become self-learners. Our Centre has implemented and applies the Kumon principals to ensure that all our students develop the skills to contribute to their society and to utilize the skills in their own personal lives to the benefit of all.

As Kumon is an individualised programme, we observe the students closely and provide instruction for each student to keep them on a level just right for them. Careful planning is done for every student’s work in order to ensure steady progress through the levels. Goal setting is done at the feedback session after enrolment. Each student’s progress is carefully monitored and new goals set every three months. Monthly progress reports are sent home to the parents, and regular meetings are held with parents to discuss their child’s progress.

The shopping centre is a friendly environment and parents are welcome to wait outside the Kumon Centre while students are busy with their worksheets. We offer a Reading Corner with books where the children can read while waiting for their parents to pick them up.

We want every Kumon visit / experience to be a positive one, where the student leaves confident, motivated and with a sense of “I am Smarter, I can do this”
My Kumon Journey started in 1996 when I enrolled my son in Kumon.  After I saw how it helped him, I decided to open my own Centre.  I started the Centre in 1998 and was the Instructor until 2006, when I had to leave the Kumon family to follow a corporate career in Finance. After 14 years working in Finance I decided to come back to the Kumon family and opened the Eldoraigne Centre in 2020.

As an Instructor I thoroughly enjoy Kumon as I love working with children. It is very fulfilling to help develop the students at their own pace. I love being able to contribute to the development of the student by giving them the opportunity to achieve good study skills, to improve their Maths and English skills, and to become self-learners. Kumon helps the students by showing them the power of practical learning principles such as building a solid foundation, and providing opportunity for sufficient practice and repetition when required. Giving the student regular praise and encouragement is also important.

Mathematics is the one subject where foundation needs to be correct, else subsequent steps become too difficult.  Students need confidence in themselves, and at Kumon they can experience it in a positive light for themselves. There is no need ever to have a feeling of inferiority or failure. The student is allowed to master each phase at his/her own pace before progressing to the next phase, which builds their self-confidence; self-confidence which will help them in all spheres of life.

My mission is to develop each and every student to his/her full potential through the Kumon Method, using Kumon Maths and English as a tool, at a level just right for the student. By doing so, they are able to become independent self-learners, prepared for adult life as they have developed valuable life skills, a positive study attitude and excellent character.

Most Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than extra lessons and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
