About this centre

KUMON CONNECT available
The centre was established in 2018 and as such, the Instructor has received the most up to date training.

Kumon gives children the ability to think for themselves, be problem solvers, and be creative in expressing themselves and to be innovative, and this is done by just mastering the subjects of math and English in the Kumon way. The children are able to then apply their knowledge and skills to their other subjects and have the opportunity of even greater success.

Motivation is a strong element in the overall success of the programme. The Kensington Instructor and staff commit themselves to paying close attention to individual progress, and promoting a high sense of a willingness to learn.

The centre caters for twenty-four children per time slot and is a very good space for conducive study. Kumon encourages regular reading, and as such, there is a separate reading area with a library of recommended reading books available for all levels of study. There is also a separate area for toddlers to work on their Kumon worksheets, which is the starting point for little ones to ready themselves for school.

The centre caters for a person of any age. Adults will find it beneficial should they wish to improve their knowledge of English or math, or to reinforce work skills such as concentration, mental calculation, accuracy and critical reading.

The centre is perfectly situated just a couple of minutes from the R24 and Gillooly’s interchange. It is in a beautifully maintained office park which is fully secure. The office park is fully walled and gated with electric fencing and automated gate access. There is a security gate at the entrance and this enhances the safety for the children. There is secured parking available within the office park. There are businesses within the office park that parents may visit while waiting for their children.

About the Instructor

My Kumon journey started with my amazing mom getting the idea late one evening out of the blue to check the Kumon website for franchise opportunities. The next day she told me about it and we then contacted head office to enquire further. There was a lot of enthusiasm and curiosity in our home.

I was invited to attend an orientation session and at the very first instance of meeting the management team and seeing the head office I was sold, even before the information session had begun. Needless to say I am so excited by the Kumon method and have myself seen in the broader community that children who do Kumon are overall achievers.

I have a strong passion for children and seeing them develop and grow. I am enthusiastic about education, because I believe that a great education is so empowering to any individual and contributes greatly to a happy and sustainable life.

I have had roles in the past motivating individuals to reach their goals and the people with whom I have worked have achieved great success.

The most rewarding elements of the role of Instructor are that with my help children and adults alike can go beyond their existing capabilities and feel a sense of achievement every time they attend the centre. The opportunity to expand individuals’ minds and their abilities is truly invaluable.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than extra lessons and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
