About this centre

KUMON CONNECT available
This Kumon Study Centre is situated in Stanger, KwaDukuza. The centre is safe and secure and is conveniently located. The centre is cosy and appealing to learners of all ages with its soft colours and its environment that is conducive to learning. It also has a reading section where your child can sit comfortably and improve their reading skills.

The Kumon Study Centre strives to develop the ability of each of its learners by discovering their potential. The Kumon Method aims to develop the skills of self-learning in pupils from 3 years of age. At the Centre, the Kumon Instructor and assistants observe your child’s capabilities through well designed worksheets, improving their abilities day by day. We believe that - whilst it is true that each learner is different – every learner is capable of improving themselves and exploring what their potential is. Once the learner becomes enthusiastic, they will want to push themselves to the maximum.

At this Kumon Study Centre, we focus on providing each learner with tailored hands-on instruction that allows them to reach beyond their potential. Your child will, without a doubt, reach new heights in their learning as Kumon students always have the ability to reach beyond their current school level.

As a Kumon student your child will develop invaluable study skills and build confidence as they become an independent learner. Through daily study of the Kumon worksheets, your child will strive towards studying above the international standard for their age, enabling them to realise their potential both at school and beyond. In addition to studying an appropriate amount of work at home on a daily basis, your child will also attend the study centre twice a week.

We would love to have the opportunity to welcome you and your children to Kumon Stanger and look forward to having you join us.

About the Instructor

My name is Shazia Mansoor and I am the instructor of the KwaDukuza Study Centre.

For as long as I can remember, I have grown up with an immense passion for interacting and working with children. Hence, I pursued a career in teaching.  I am a qualified teacher with a Bachelor of Education Degree and have taught for a few years in a school in KwaDukuza.

I am a young enthusiastic woman who takes pride in my work and does it with accuracy. I do not believe in doing things just for the sake of doing it, but rather doing it with the purpose of achieving an outcome. My purpose for going on this Kumon journey is to discover the potential of a learner, to develop their ability to the maximum and to get them studying beyond their grade level. To me as an individual, I feel a sense of fulfilment when I see a learner achieving something on their own, something that he/she has struggled with before.

Through Kumon, my aim would be to ensure that at the end of the day, every learner that leaves the centre feels more motivated than they were yesterday, and that they feel a sense of accomplishment in themselves.

The thing that I love most about Kumon is that it is more than just an academic programme. It is a programme that is designed for all ages and all abilities, starting from as young as 3 years old and going to as old as 50+ or more.

I look forward to meeting you and your child[ren] at the KwaDukuza Study Centre to share what the Kumon Programmes are all about, and how we, together, can make a difference in helping your child reach new heights in their learning, day after day.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than extra lessons and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
