About our centre

Welcome to Our New Linmeyer Centre!

We are proud to introduce our newest addition in Linmeyer—an exciting extension of our long-standing commitment to developing confident, independent learners.

Rooted in the proven philosophy of Kumon, our new centre carries forward the same values that have shaped our South centre for over 31 years. With a strong foundation built on consistency, dedication, and a genuine passion for education, we continue to support each child in reaching their full potential—at their own pace.

At the heart of our journey is Jeanetta Taljaard, whose unwavering commitment to excellence has impacted generations of students and families. Her vision has always been clear: to nurture confident learners who develop strong academic skills and the ability to think independently.

The Linmeyer centre is a natural progression of this vision—bringing the same trusted approach to a new community. Here, students will benefit from individualized learning programmes in mathematics and English, carefully designed to build not only academic ability but also resilience, focus, and self-belief.

Whether your child is looking to strengthen foundational skills, catch up, or advance beyond their school level, our centre provides a supportive and structured environment where growth happens step by step.

Join us as we continue a legacy of learning—now in Linmeyer.

About your Instructor

My Name is Jeanetta Taaljard and I am the Instructor of the Linmeyer, Alberton, Randhart and Kumon South Study Centres. My journey with Kumon began in 1995. I had previously taught at high school level but at the time, I was at home with my own children, completing my post graduate studies in remedial and special education. Whilst completing my studies, I was assisting many of the neighbourhood children with their school studies and I found that many of them struggled with Maths and English language. Kumon had extensive and well researched maths and English programmes and a student would want to excel in their Maths and English studies.

What I truly love about the Kumon programmes is that it is a system of worksheets that have been created in a way that they are suited to each child's abilities. Kumon is for every student; from the weakest to the strongest and from the youngest to the oldest – this is what I wanted for my students!

Frequently Asked Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
