Welcome to the Moreleta Park Study Centre.

Here we strive to provide each student with the skills to be competent, confident and academically stronger individuals.  We will support each child on their Kumon journey to help them develop stamina, perseverance and a positive attitude towards learning.

Whether your child is at the beginning of their academic journey seeking assistance with a few topics, or whether they need help catching up, Kumon is designed to develop each child at their own pace to further their abilities.  After the enrolment interview your child will begin the programmes at an individually set starting point.  This starting point will be at an academic level that your child can already do, thus providing us with the opportunity to build on the work skills required. Thereafter your child will progress to more complex work, and even beyond their grade.

Our goal is to create happy, confident and competent children with a love for learning.  This requires commitment from both the centre staff as well as the parents, as children will attend our study centre twice a week and will have to complete daily assignments at home.  This commitment is a definite investment in the future of your children.

We look forward to making a difference in your child’s future.
Hi, my name is Irma van Zyl.  After a decade in the medical industry where I worked as a medical representative and later as the training manager for a medical device company where I trained medical professionals, I found my passion for enriching the lives of children through Kumon.

My road to becoming a Kumon Instructor started in January 2019 and what an exciting road it has been.  Planning and thinking about my Kumon Centre is so exciting and I hope to inspire my students and staff to be as positive and excited about the programmes as I am.  I have been completing both the English and Maths programmes, and cannot believe the difference the Maths programme has made - even with my 36-year-old brainJ.

As a mother of two beautiful girls I have always wondered how I can help them achieve their full potential; how I can help them with their school work without doing too much for them, as I believe that if you solve a problem yourself you learn much more than having it solved for you. This is why I have always tried to assist them without giving them the answers and I am still amazed every time that they are able to solve a problem unassisted, with a sense of accomplishment on their faces. THAT is exactly what Kumon does for children of all abilities, whether they are academically strong or struggling.

After looking into the Kumon programmes for my children I realised that by opening a Kumon Centre I can bring this amazing programme to other children and experience the rewards of witnessing these wonderful moments for many more children.

Most Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than extra lessons and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme but each student receives regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
