About this centre

In-centre Classes & Messaging support
Kumon Primrose East is based on the property of Earthkidz Crèche in Primrose East. The venue is a vibrant, safe and nurturing environment – one which is conducive to learning. The venue is close to many schools and shopping centres in the Primrose and surrounding area, with easy access to and from the N17 highway.

The Primrose East Kumon Centre caters for children from five years of age to adulthood. There is a homework exchange table at the entrance to the Centre where homework is checked and new homework is issued. The Centre also has a large variety of reading books in its library and children are encouraged to develop a love for reading.

The Centre is open Monday to Thursdays from 14h00–16h00, and offers online classes from 16h00– 18h00. Enrolment meetings are scheduled for Fridays between 14h00–17h00. The Centre also offers online classes on Saturdays between 09h00–12h00. Classes are 30 minutes in duration.

Angela Hicklin is the Instructor at Kumon Primrose East Study Centre.

After a successful career of 22 years in the Hospitality Industry where she gained valuable management skills, Angela purchased a crèche and aftercare centre in 2015.  Angela has a Certificate in Crèche Management and a Diploma in Early Childhood Development. Having seen a gap with children’s reading and Maths skills, she decided to pursue the Kumon Method. Angela completed the Kumon New Instructor Training and opened her own Kumon Centre in 2020.

Angela’s vision is to make all students feel welcome at the Centre, and to nurture their ability to be confident self-learners who work beyond their school grade, and who go on to complete the Kumon Programme. Angela wishes to instil a love for learning in all her students, and for them to always have a positive Kumon experience, whether at the Centre or online.

Most Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than extra lessons and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
