About this centre
At Kumon Sunninghill, our aim is to discover each and every child’s potential and to develop them to their maximum, which is infinite. Our approach for each child is unique. By closely observing each student, we are able to develop their understanding, work skills and attitude through intentional instruction. We know that each child develops differently and at their own pace, so we tailor each journey according to their specific needs. Kumon is a wonderful programme that strikes the balance of not overexerting your child but still adding a challenge to keep them engaged. At Sunninghill, we don’t just look at helping your child improve their school grades but helping them grow into sustainable self-learners through our holistic approach. Each worksheet they complete allows them to experience the joy of self-learning and advancing on their own. Imagine how wonderful it would be for your child to confidently take on their schoolwork and give it their best willingly because they have the confidence to try.
We encourage students to continue with the programme beyond their grade-level. This means that your child will start learning how to do work that they would normally only begin doing in higher grades at school. This provides children with booming confidence to start a new year at school with an “I can do it” attitude because they have already been exposed to the work. Not only does this positively influence their grades, but they also have a more positive attitude towards school because they don't feel lost with difficult concepts.
On behalf of the whole Sunninghill team, Monique Jacobs (Office Centre Instructor), Chrisna Erasmus (National Instructor Coordinator) and Natasha Moodley (National Human Capital Development and Instruction Manager), we would like you to know that whether your child is as young as two years old, or, as an adult you are interested in becoming a Kumon student, we will welcome you with open arms as Kumon has the ability to develop anyone as long as they are willing to give it a try. Each person’s journey is our passion and our priority.
In the brave new world of the Covid-19 pandemic, we would like to reassure you that we are running a ‘virtual centre’ via the Zoom application. This gives your child/ren the chance to complete their daily study online, talking through Zoom, alongside other students from the centre. It is a friendly and supportive environment, like the centre, where we are able to instruct and guide students when necessary. Discussion and interaction does also take place between students. This encourages regular daily study as well as motivates the students when they see their classmates invested in their studies.
Bookings for both in-Centre and Zoom sessions are essential to ensure quality support at all times as well as compliance with social distancing.

Most Popular Questions
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
