Kumon Van Riebeek park center has dedicated staff which is committed to insure that all learners reach their maximum abilities.

Kumon believes that every learner has potential and are smart in their own way so that is why we encourage parents to enroll their children to the kumon program so they are able to develop their ability to tackle tasks at their own pace and needs. We discover these needs during their enrollment interview so we get a better understanding of their strengths. We assist them individually at a pace we feel is necessary for them to get a better understanding without feeling pressured. Which is why we find Kumon unique as it supports the success rate of the learner.

Kumon accommodates learners of all age groups providing them with worksheets that progress in levels best fit for them. This allows them to perform above their grade level and become smarter.

With the above in mind, it is no wonder that kumon has managed to positively impact learners lives for years leaving them with confidence to commence each problem effectively. learners grow to the fullest not only as a student but also as an individual.

About the Instructor

My name is Precious Manana. I am married and I am a mother of three beautiful children. I joined the Edenvale Kumon Centre in June 2012 as a Marking Assistant from being a Call Centre Representative at a well-known company in South Africa.
When I initially applied for the job and later became employed at the Kumon Centre, I had no prior knowledge of Kumon and what it was all about. Over time, and whilst I was assisting learners with English and Maths, I developed a passion for teaching which encouraged me to pursue a teaching qualification. I also used the skills I obtained from Kumon to help my very own children in the areas of Mathematics and English and I can boldly attest to the fact that Kumon is a programme that works as my kids are a testament of the success it offers.
Through my 11 years’ experience of working at the Kumon Centre, I have learnt that Kumon does not only nurture learners’ academic abilities, but it also instils lifelong skills within them that they can use long after their schooling careers. My biggest joy is experiencing learners who walk into the Centre struggling with English and/or Maths and confidently walk out having strengthened their abilities in these disciplines and more.
I will continue to strive to ensure that all learners that come across my path in Kumon will maximise their potential and achieve all their academic and life-skill goals, making themselves, their parents and their communities proud.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than extra lessons and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
